Pittsburgh Grass Volleyball is super excited to announce a first of its kind, special event in western PA. Pittsburgh Grass Volleyball Presents MONTOURMANIA, a turf volleyball event!
MONTOURMANIA is western PA’s first ever indoor turf volleyball event. MONTOURMANIA 1 is a one-day indoor turf volleyball tournament on Saturday December 6th, 2025. Saturday’s play will feature Men’s AA, A, and BB quads divisions as well as Women’s AA, A, and BB quads divisions.
As for where the event takes place, our partnership with Montour Sports Complex has allowed us access to a state of the art indoor turf facility located in Coraopolis, Pennsylvania. The inspiration to create an indoor turf volleyball event came from our friends at MKE Turf Volleyball, Milwaukee’s 1st and longest running turf volleyball league. Special shout out to Mauricio and MKE!
The inspiration to start Pittsburgh Grass Volleyball came from years of attending the Pottstown Rumble Volleyball Tournament (Pottstown, PA). Therefore all events we do are old school rules. Side out scoring. No net serves. Pittsburgh Grass Volleyball is a proud partner of AVP America.

Why $60/person?
The per player cost for MontourMania is higher than your average outdoor volleyball tournament for 2 reasons:
1) The Montour Sports Complex facility is very expensive to rent for the day. Renting Montour Sports Complex for 1 day costs the same amount as the price to rent The South Park Fairgrounds for 3 days.
2) Montour Sports Complex offers very limited space compared to your typical outdoor event. We can only fit 15 nets at Montour Sports Complex for MONTOURMANIA 1 vs the 40 we typically have for The Pittsburgh Grass Open
We've spent years working on building and testing the equipment needed to make grass nets function on turf and are extremely excited to introduce this innovative and unique volleyball event to the city of Pittsburgh at the state of the art facility that is Montour Sports Complex. Being able to play indoor turf volleyball in December in Pittsburgh is truly going to be a gamechanger and officially makes grass volleyball a year round sport.

-Advanced (more difficult)

ALL PARTICIPANTS, INCLUDING JUNIORS, MUST HAVE ACTIVE AVP “SILVER” MEMBERSHIPS. THIS IS A REQUIREMENT BECAUSE PITTSBURGH GRASS VOLLEYBALL PARTICIPATES UNDER THE AVP AMERICA “UMBRELLA.”

*VolleyballLife is an app we will be using again this year to enable the smoothest running Pittsburgh Grass Open tournament possible.
Refunds:
-48 HOUR CANCELLATION POLICY. CANCELLATIONS WITH LESS THAN 48 HOURS NOTICE WILL NOT BE GIVEN A REFUND.
-NO REFUNDS FOR WEATHER. WE ARE A SNOW OR SHINE EVENT.
Levels of play FAQs: 1) Playing up is always allowed
Examples:
-”A” division adults that want to challenge themselves and play “AA”
2) Playing down i.e. “sandbagging” is NEVER ALLOWED
What is sandbagging? Sandbagging is purposely playing in a lower division than your true skill level.
Examples that are NEVER allowed:
-AA level adults playing in the “A” division
3) You MUST sign up at the level of the best player on your team. If the best player on your team is a AA level player and you normally play A, you MUST sign up for “AA.”

Parking: 200 paved parking spots available out in front of the building. Player count will be 250-300. PLEASE CONSIDER CARPOOLING WITH YOUR TEAM!
FOOD:
Notorious BLT
Justin from Notorious BLT will be serving up his famous BBQ sandwiches, BLT’s, grilled cheese and soup
-Lunch and other all day food items will start around 12PM and be served thru through dinnertime on Saturday. There is an onsite water fountain and bathrooms.
Other rules:
-The Montour Sports Complex facility is a non-smoking/vaping facility. Alcohol is also prohibited. If you’re found smoking/vaping/drinking, you will be asked to leave and never allowed back.
